UPDATED: DECEMBER 31, 2024
Dear Friends of the Salina Chorale,
We were so very blessed to be led in fall rehearsals and our 2024 “Carols of Christmas” concert under the direction of our highly energetic and enthusiastic new music director, Keri Boley. We were honored by those in the wonderful audience who came to hear us present a new style of holiday concert on Dec. 1, 2024, at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in downtown Salina, KS.
What a blessing to perform for you Vivaldi’s “Gloria” in Latin, with a small but exceptional orchestra, piano and organ, plus other songs that speak of the festivity and the real meaning of the Christmas holiday.
You can learn about our director, Keri Boley, and her choral direction experience on the “Director, Accompanist” page, under the “MORE” tab.
Our start date for our 2025 spring semester rehearsals is coming up quickly, though it is now postponed one week due to the winter storm that has hit Salina and surrounding communities starting on Saturday, Jan. 4, with blizzard snow conditions on Sunday, Jan. 5..
Rehearsals will now begin Monday, Jan. 13, 2025, at 6:45 p.m. – as our director Keri Boley says, "the earlier, the better" -- because our spring rehearsal time is shortened for our "earlier than usual" spring concert to be performed at 4 p.m. on March 23, 2025, in the Stiefel Theatre for the Performing Arts.
Keri has titled our spring concert “Water and Life,” and the program will bye presented in two parts. The first half will feature songs about Water, exploring a range of styles: pop, folk, show tunes, spirituals, novelty songs, and more serious choral pieces.
These will include an arrangement of “The River” by Garth Brooks that we presented in our 2018 spring concert, along with a new arrangement of “Moon River,” a song composed by Henry Mancini with lyrics by Johnny Mercer.
The second half of our concert will focus on Life, and will showcase a variety of styles. Our director explained that all of the songs she chose for this section hold special memories for her of her mom, who passed away last May. Keri said, “These pieces were inspired by her, and as you listen to these songs, you’ll notice that it’s not about sadness. My mom was pure JOY!”
Sing with us (See our SING WITH US page), or make plans to attend this concert with your family and friends. ADMISSION: Adults are $15, High School Students are $10, and younger children are admitted free!
Hoping you will join us to sing, or to hear us, for this wonderful performance, live and in person.
